ACAP - can it create a level playing field with news agregators?

February 25th, 2008 · No Comments

“It is not realistic to request Web site developers to include in their Web pages, or manage on their platform, the detailed usage rights and metadata attached to syndicated news items. It is also not realistic to request that an HTML page is structured so that all components of the page (all news items) are correctly identified.

What can be requested from Web site developers is to include in the header of news pages the URL of a resource, hosted by the content provider, where search engines can retrieve the needed information.

Hello, welcome to our world

December 7th, 2007 · 1 Comment

This is the first attempt that we know of ( I am sure you will be quick to correct us) that looks at the technology of the newsroom across ALL media sectors. One of our resons for doing this is our awareness of the huge divergence between (former) newspaper companies and (former) TV and radio stations. I use the word “former” because all of them now claim to be multi-media. They are aiming for the same end, but coming from different worlds, and still talking very different languages.
We want to bring together the different opinions and experiences, as well as knowledge on the different technologies, and consider what may be possible.

We are also keen to learn as much as possible about the co-operative Web 2.0 world we are all hoping to play a part in. So if what is happening at this blog needs changing, then tell us!
